Preparation

Tools & Supplies

  • Paint/Primer Requirements: Use Eggshell, Satin, or Semi-Gloss finishes for optimal adhesion. Avoid washable or No-VOC paints, as they may prevent proper bonding.
  • Essential Tools:
    • A straight edge (e.g., a metal ruler)
    • Squeegee (included with your order) or a hard smoothing tool
    • Box cutter or Olfa-style utility knife for trimming
    • A clean, lint-free rag

Wall Preparation

  1. Clean and Smooth: Ensure walls are smooth, dry, and free from debris, mold, or grease. Remove any old wallpaper and fill in nail holes or other imperfections. Sand any rough areas and dust the wall thoroughly.
  2. Painted Walls: If the wall was recently painted, allow it to dry for at least 30 days to avoid peeling.
  3. Walls with No-VOC Paints: Wipe the wall with a solution of 30% isopropyl alcohol and 70% water to improve adhesion.
  4. Outlet and Switch Covers: Remove any covers, window hardware, or anything else that could obstruct wallpaper application.

Paper Preparation

  1. Acclimate the Wallpaper: Keep wallpaper in a dry, climate-controlled space (70-75°F, 40-55% humidity) for 24 hours before installation.
  2. Inspect Each Roll: Check panels for print consistency, color matching, and proper panel alignment.
  3. Roll Positioning: Unroll each roll in the same direction. The top edge should have no white space, while the bottom has a narrow white space with order information.

Installation

Step 1: Plan the Layout

  • For walls with patterns or designs, plan your layout to align the design seamlessly.
  • If covering multiple walls, start from the farthest left or right corner. If covering all four walls, begin in an inconspicuous corner (e.g., behind a door).

Step 2: Start Hanging

  • Peel and Position: Start by peeling about 6 inches of the backing from the top of the first panel and fold the liner backward.
  • Align and Apply: Position the top of the panel about 1-2 inches above the top of the wall and press the exposed adhesive onto the wall.
  • Smooth Out Bubbles: Using a squeegee, smooth from the center outwards to remove air bubbles. Continue peeling and pressing down the panel in small sections (4-6 inches at a time).

Step 3: Add Additional Panels

  • Pattern Matching: Align each new panel to match the previous one with about 0.5-inch overlap to ensure a seamless pattern.
  • Corners: For interior or exterior corners, wrap a few inches around to prevent peeling at the edges.

Step 4: Trimming

  • Once all panels are in place, use a sharp utility knife to trim excess wallpaper along the edges. Press the straight edge firmly against the wall to guide a clean cut along baseboards, ceilings, or corners.

Removal

Wallperia wallpaper is designed for easy removal. When you’re ready to take it down:

  1. Start at the Top: Begin peeling from the top corner, gently pulling downward at a 180-degree angle to avoid damaging the wall.
  2. Go Slowly: Maintain steady, even pressure as you peel to prevent any paint from coming off.
  3. Clean Up: Dispose of wallpaper properly, as it is not recyclable. Clean any residue on the wall with a mild solution if needed.

Quick Tips

  • Avoid Creases: Do not fold the printed side of the wallpaper, as creases may not disappear.
  • Check as You Go: After each panel, step back to ensure alignment and color matching before moving to the next.
  • Repositioning: If you need to adjust a panel, peel back carefully and reapply. Peel & Stick is repositionable, but avoid overstretching.
